I would like to start by thanking everyone for your participation in the Christmas Masses. Thanks to all those who prepared the Churches so beautifully for the celebrations, and all who helped with the Liturgy in anyway. Thanks to our musicians and singers who helped in preparing music for us to enjoy. Although we couldn’t all sing, it was good to hear the familiar carols being played or sung at our Masses. A particular note of thanks to our stewards. These women and men have served faithfully to ensure that we can attend Mass in our churches safely. I cannot – we cannot – thank them enough for the task that they have undertaken. Thanks too from Fr Alexander, Fr Jean and myself for the cards and gifts given to us. We have been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity towards us.
So, having had the great celebrations for Christmas, we are now in the new reality of Tier 4. Just to be clear – the limit of 20 people at Mass has started from today 26th December. You should have heard by now which Mass you have been allocated during this period. If not, feel free to call us on 01382 611282. There will teething problems with people whom we have forgotten to add to lists and people we have not reached to inform: we ask your continued patience with us. We are using this system to ensure that people who do not have internet access are not disadvantaged by having to go online to book, but this system has its own drawbacks and instead of being computer errors they are all too human errors.
Newsletter: There is no newsletter this weekend but there is some important information below.
Changes to the Schedules: Due to the relative demand of Masses, I decided to move the 10am Mass on Thursday mornings from St Columba’s to St Leonard and St Fergus. This is purely a matter of logistics. The few who had ‘signed up’ for 10am on Thursdays at St Columba’s have been asked to change their preference to 10am on Tuesdays or Saturdays – still at St Columba’s. There is plenty of spaces available at these Masses. If people wish to attend the Mass in St Leonard and St Fergus on Thursday mornings at 10am, please let us know.
Friday 1st January: As the Feast of Mary Mother of God falls on Friday, those who already have Friday as their allocated Mass will have the places in church for the Masses on Friday morning (St Mary’s and St Leonard and St Fergus’). However, we will also celebrate vigil Masses in St Mary’s and St Columba’s at 6pm on Thursday evening (31st December). All those who wish to attend either of these Masses and who do not already have spaces at the Friday Mass ate invited to ‘sign up’ for the twenty places at each of these Masses. We will also livestream Mass on the Feast Day itself – details to follow.
